ZDB is Hiring!
Are you looking to work as a litigator representing individuals in cutting-edge civil rights matters, including employment discrimination, students’ rights, free speech, and criminal defense cases? ZALKIND DUNCAN & BERNSTEIN LLP is hiring an associate to join our premier litigation boutique in Boston. Our 13-lawyer firm has a dynamic federal and state court practice at both the trial and appellate levels.
Our civil practice focuses on plaintiff-side employment matters (primarily discrimination cases), and representing students, faculty, and other employees of educational institutions in discrimination, free speech, due process and misconduct proceedings, including sexual misconduct matters.
Our criminal defense practice includes zealously representing individuals facing a wide variety of charges in both state and federal court, including crimes of violence, fraud and drug offenses, white collar crimes, and other felonies and misdemeanors. We are committed as a firm to serving indigent defendants and devote a substantial portion of our criminal practice to appointed federal trial work (through the CJA panel), as well as appointed state and federal appellate work (through both CPCS and CJA panels).
We also have a general civil litigation, complex motions, and appellate practice. We are involved in bar activities and pro bono work related to civil rights issues, including devoting time to advocacy on amicus briefs on novel legal issues in our practice areas.
We are dedicated to developing the next generation of legal talent. Our associates engage in substantive legal work as soon as they join the firm, including direct client engagement from day one and being integrally involved in all steps of litigation, such as taking and defending depositions, representing clients in evidentiary hearings, legal and strategic planning, and arguing dispositive motions and appeals.
We are looking for an attorney with 1-2 years of experience and excellent research, analytical, and writing skills. Judicial clerkship a plus. Our clients come from a diverse array of communities, so fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Haitian Creole, or other languages is also beneficial. Associates must be available for court, depositions, and other in-person proceedings in the Greater Boston area. Associates currently work in the office at least two days per week and may otherwise work remotely where that is compatible with the needs of their work. More information about our firm can be found on our website: http://www.zalkindlaw.com.
Creating and supporting a diverse and inclusive work environment matters: to us, to our clients, and to the work we do for them. We actively seek applicants from all backgrounds who share our commitment to join our team. We encourage you to apply if you believe you would be a good fit for the role, even if you don’t believe you meet every one of our qualifications as described.
The initial salary range for this role is $80,000-$85,000. We offer competitive benefits, including discretionary year-end bonuses, fully employer-paid healthcare for employees, four weeks of vacation, thirteen paid holidays (up to five of which can be used as floating holidays), one week of sick leave, and paid parental leave. We also offer a 401(k) with employer contribution following a qualifying period of employment.
